Your fixtures
The start address is for when the first channels are already taken by gear that is not in this list — a dimmer rack, a machine wired in permanently. A fixture whose universe is chosen stays there, whatever happens.
Proposed patch
The patch chains each fixture right after the previous one. To anchor a fixture to a precise address without moving what is already placed before it, change its address in the table : the rest picks the chaining back up right after it.

The gaps between addresses
What you type into a console : N fixtures, first address A, step P. If the gap is constant, the entry fits on one line. If it is not, you have to address fixture by fixture — and it is better to know before you are up the ladder.

One square per channel, thirty-two to a row. A whole universe reads at a glance : the occupied blocks, the gaps between them, and the overlaps.
